The creativity

I made these cookies today for a church Valentine party that I attended tonight. They looked really nice and were quite tasty but probably wasted effort for this event. Since Den has given up all sweets, I kind of miss baking. So it was fun even so.
I have quite a few post card valentines and this is my favorite. May everyone enjoy their Valentine's Day.

The Queen of Hearts,
She made some tarts
All on a summer's day.

The Knave of Hearts,
He stole the tarts
And took them clean away.

The King of Hearts,
Called for the tarts
And beat the Knave full sore.

The Knave of Hearts,
Brought back the tarts
And vowed he'd steal no more.

Wish I had me some of those tarts. They look delish!

Dear Queen of Hearts,
Are your tarts from page 19 of Betty Crocker's Cooky Book? If so, I've always wanted to make those but then didn't really have the ambition. They are beautifully presented and I feel like I ate one just by looking at it like the boy in the gray storybook with the bubbles on the cover.

I am waiting for a little plate of those hearts to show up on my doorstep today. :-)

Yes, Auntie M. The very cookbook with its loose falling out, stained pages. These cookies are remarkably easy to make. Dough handles beautifully. However if you use the cherry filling recipe, just make half a recipe of it.
