For my sister Melissa

Today's projects will soon be on their way to my sister Melissa. A box pouch from fabric Linda gave me.
A necklace stamped with my very own new alphabet set. Hope she likes them.

On the cheap

The sewing for the past couple of days was made with fabric purchased through thrifting. The fabric for this scarf cost $1 at the Gold Mine Thrift Shop.
A close up of the beaded edges. This one is for my very own self.
Long jammie shorts for Jack from a very nice quality piece of flannel purchased at Goodwill.

new additions

Ever since I went to San Diego last summer and spent the day with Linda I have wanted some succulents. Finally I have gathered enough to make a little garden in the front flower bed. It makes me happy.

Lamp I found up at the Gold Mine for $10. Really warms up the fire place corner.

projects

In these days of Weight Watching, I have been making more things. Can't eat when your hands and mind are busy. This is a quilt I just finished for my friend, Pam.
The jewelry made with the things Linda and I stamped at the class we attended.
A couple of things for gifts.

Please let this work

My friend Pam asked me if I'd like to go to Weight Watchers with her. Ever since she's known me, she's had to listen to me whine about overweight. I didn't really think I would do it. I really didn't think I was capable of losing any of this weight. But with much embarassment and fear of the scales, I did it. It has been 5 weeks and I have lost 13 pounds. I am beyond happiness over it. I just hope to make it through one day at a time. There is a sign over by the airport for smoke cessation that says "never quit quitting" and I have taken that up as my motto. Also the perseverance necklace is a reminder. Perseverance wins!

meaningful book

Becky sent me this book marker. Thanks, Beck. It makes me feel kind of like someone from the era of this book. I belong to a book club in my neighborhood. I am hosting tomorrow night. We read Rebecca this month. This is the very copy which belonged to Den's mom and gave him the idea to name our daughter. So the whole thing is just kind of serendipitous. And also was a very good read.

Rock-a-bye, baby

I went to a baby shower on Saturday. This quilt was part of my gift.
I also spruced up this vintage dress for the little girl arriving in April. The mama liked them.

Aquarium

Last Saturday we joined the Tuckers and Jack down at Sea Life Aquarium for Aaron's 4th birthday.
Not supposed to use flash and my photos are all pretty bad but since this blog is a jpurnal for me, I want to remember this.
We all had a good time.
