Dog School

Beau and I have been doing training classes at Petsmart. Beau really performs well for Suzanne, the instructor.
Here during free play, Beau goes up to the glass to check out a little girl.
Bella the other small dog in the class has become a friend to Beau. So far all he does really well is sit on command but I think we will work hard on some of the other things this week.

Red dye, anyone?

We went to an annual chilli fest in our neighborhood this evening. Everyone is asked to make a dessert or a salad. I saw this recipe on a food blog and being a long time lover of the the old "red velvet" had to try it.
The rather thick batter is rolled up jelly roll style with a ricotta and strawberry filling. Next time I might try to make it look neater but have to say it was tasty. wow! That dough is really red.

Favorite things

One of my very favorite things is rain in the desert. It just freshens and greens things so incredibly.
When I first moved to Arizona I was amazed that houses didn't have gutters.
Little diamonds on the leaves of this bush.

Pleasing

Yesterday afternoon I was cleaning radishes for Den and they looked so beautiful, I had to take a picture of them.
Actually I don't care for radishes and avoid them if possible.
However, I love how they look and once had Den buy me this painting at an art show in Virginia. I still love it as much as I did 30 years ago.

products

and because I must create a few things to maintain my sanity, these are my offerings so far in the month of February. This is called the potato chip scarf. It is knit of hand dyed Japanese yarn. Was lots of fun to knit.
We had dinner with our friends Linda and Ed on Saturday night (very delicious I might add) and Linda gave me these red beads. I went right home and made these earrings for church the next day.
A flannel blanket and a little hat to be given to a couple of Humane Society employees for their soon to be born little boy. This was a request from Dennis.

Tea with friends

On Thursday of last week, the womens' group from my church had tea at the English Rose tearoom in Carefree. We had a large group and a lot of fun.

hodge podge

I miss my blog. Only thing I've finished so far in Feb. is this scissors guard for a neighbor who gifted me with a bag of yarn.
I arranged the altar flowers for church this morning and like to keep track of them on here.
And for favorite things, there was a magnificent rainbow today. It was a full, clear and glorious rainbow. Always know there's something wonderful about a day with a rainbow.
